Bad news for fans of cups, heads, and their unholy union: vintage cartoon-inspired platformer Cuphead has been delayed until mid-2017.

First unveiled in 2014, Cuphead had originally been slated for a release that same year on PC. Then it was announced for Xbox One too, and slipped to 2015, and then eventually to this year. Studio MDHR has confirmed in a blog post that it won’t be making that date either.

“Hey everyone, we wanted to finish our game 80 years after 1936 but it will now be 81,” the company wrote.

“Throughout this year we discussed reducing the scope to make a 2016 release, but we made the difficult decision to delay the launch in order to ship with our vision intact. We are happy to announce that Cuphead will be coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam in Mid-2017.”
