Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Not only does Nintendo’s upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild look immensely beautiful and full of open-world adventures, but now there’s (mighty official) whispers of the game leading to some form of multiplayer title! Speaking to IGN, series producer Eiji Aonuma has outright stated:

I would like to take what I learned from Breath of the Wild and see if we can somehow fuse those learning points into another multiplayer Zelda. For example, with Triforce Heroes, which followed a similar format of Four Swords, there was a multiplayer involved in that game. That’s definitely a possibility and we will continue to [experiment] throughout the Zelda franchise.

The possibility of co-op Zelda (or even the positively insane possibility of a competitive Zelda title) once again begs the question: will you let us play as a female link already? It would make Existential Gamer’s Dominic Preston very, very happy. Lately I’ve been creating female characters in my RPG’s and it feels even more adventurous and bad-ass to wander the world. I know you won’t let Link be bald, Nintendo, but at least let me choose the gender. (Yes, I have a penchant for creating bald female characters.)

If you haven’t already checked out gameplay, Kotaku has posted a multi-part series on youtube from their hands-on with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at E3:
