We’ve known since April last year that Telltale are working on something to do with a Marvel property, and now thanks to a leak we probably know what it is: Guardians of the Galaxy.
Telltale, recently responsible for their licensed narrative games based on The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Batman, announced a Marvel project way back last year, but have kept quiet ever since.
Meanwhile SAG-AFTRA, the union that represents gaming’s voice actors, has gone on strike. As part of that the organization released a list of affected games, which happens to include “Guardians Of The Galaxy- The Video Game a/k/a Blue Harvest.”
The list doesn’t actually mention Telltale, but attributes the Guardians game to O’Farrell Enterprises, LLC – and links the same company to season three of The Walking Dead.
As for ‘Blue Harvest’? That was the original secret working title of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, so is probably serving the same purpose here, though admittedly not very well.
The timing makes sense though – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is due out next April, so a tie-in game around the same time would no doubt get plenty of attention. It could also mark the first time Marvel officially brings its cinematic universe into gaming, just like I said they should ages and ages ago.
